Sabrina Carpenter isn’t allowing romantic drama to get under her “Skin.”
The 21-year-old star of the Disney reboot “Girl Meets World” just released another single on Friday, “Skin,” and fans appear to be certain it’s a clapback to individual Mouse House entertainer Olivia Rodrigo — who, recently, appeared her interest loaded most recent, “Drivers License,” in a video.
The two ladies are being set in opposition to one another in features following speculation that Carpenter had as of late gathered up Rodrigo’s ex-darling, Joshua Bassett, 20.
He and Rodrigo, 17, featured together in the Disney+ unique show “High School Musical: The Musical —The Series.” Their relationship purportedly bloomed while playing common love interests in the series.
In any case, nowadays, Bassett has been seen spending time with Carpenter, as seen via social media.
In the interim, Rodrigo has been staying out of other people’s affairs, vigorously advancing her new single that immediately shot to No. 1 on Apple Music’s Top 100. At that point, fans theorized the single was a reaction to the show preparing between her ex and his new fling.
In any case, between fooling around with Bassett on TikTok and ending up at the center of an love triangle, Carpenter figured out how to deliver new music of her own, with verses that read like a reaction to Rodrigo’s hit, as fans call attention to via social media.
“I KNOW SABRINA CARPENTER DID NOT JUST — ,” tweeted @katienicks_, alongside lines from the new track: “You can try to get under my skin, while he’s on mine … Don’t drive yourself insane.”
“Sabrina Carpenter saying she can’t get under her skin…… but she did a whole song about her????,” added @Hope_E_Xoxo.
In any case, not every person is relishing the childish gossip.
“Let’s make this clear: sabrina carpenter & olivia are not ‘fighting’ over joshua,” wrote @jusswannaexhale. “Skin is directed towards the hate that the internet immediately threw at her not knowing anything about her. even the lyric ‘i just hope that one day, we both can laugh about it’ shows it.”
However, @sabbysgemini expects a significantly more shrewd inspiration for the supposed drama: publicity.
She stated, “Hope the sabrina and olivia fandom collectively know that this is a publicity stunt . . . anyway stream skin by sabrina carpenter.”
The rumors are clearly paying off for everybody, with Carpenter’s “Skin” presently climbing Apple Music’s Top 10 Pop Chart. As of Friday morning, it was No. 6, while “Drivers License” stayed situated at the top.
